Children’s yoga
As part the NZ Curriculum for Health and Physical Education we’ve introduced children’s yoga classes into our school which involve one session of yoga each week for school children of all ages. The idea is to help students increase their physical fitness and personal well-being as well as enhancing their knowledge of body parts and how they work.
The children’s yoga is a blend of storytelling, imaginative play and games, music and songs, and a mix of movement and awareness of breath. It encourages children to explore their physicality, expand their confidence and very importantly, have some fun during what can be a difficult time emotionally, mentally and physically.
