Our house
Our House offers families a caring, supportive environment and the opportunity to have as normal daily routine as possible as well as a place to stay together, for as long as their child requires medical treatment. By providing all the amenities of a ‘home away from home’, Ronald McDonald House Auckland helps families from all over New Zealand find the strength they need to face each day.
The House has 48 family bedrooms including four self contained units for families with a child waiting for, or recovering from, a transplant. These are occasionally also used by oncology patients and their families during longer treatment regimes. Families in the House have the use of two kitchens, two dining rooms, an onsite school, fitness centre and communal lounges including a TV room plus additional computer and craft areas.
Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with bath or shower, toilet and hand basin. Bed linen and towels are provided. Please let us know if your child requires a portacot.
There are 11 bedrooms in the house that are specifically designed for wheelchairs. If you need a room to accommodate a wheelchair, please let us know in advance so we can book one for you.
We also offer car parking (one car park per family) at no cost for those staying in the House.
Ronald McDonald House Auckland is situated on the Auckland City Hospital site and is just a 2-minute stroll from Starship children’s hospital.
You must have a referral from your Doctor or District Health Board or Social Worker to make a booking at Ronald McDonald House Auckland as we cannot accommodate you without this. You must also be registered with the Ministry of Health.
