Staying with us

When a child is sick the most important thing he or she needs is to have his or her family around for love and support. Our House and Family Room enable families with seriously ill children to be together at a critical time.

If you are coming to stay with us for the first time, here you will find everything your family needs to know about Ronald McDonald House Auckland, the Ronald McDonald House Family Room, our services, who we are, and how to find us.

Please consider our House your ‘home away from home’ during your stay and please treat the staff, volunteers and other families staying here as your extended family.

The House is designed to offer private space for family time, as well as communal facilities such as cooking, laundry, fitness centre and entertainment areas you can share with other family members.

Many of our guests draw strength from being around others facing similar challenges. They value being able to mix and mingle, share experiences and support each other at what can be a highly stressful time. Friendships are forged, hopeful times are had, and families with newly diagnosed children find comfort from others who are further into a similar ‘journey’. At other times you may prefer the quiet haven of your room or our library, away from the hospital environment and other people, to regroup and find strength to face whatever challenges may lie ahead.

Our Family Liaison staff are here to assist you throughout your stay. They’ll help you to find your way around, explain how the House works and put you in touch with the appropriate support networks if needed.
