Leaving a bequest

Your bequest can be anything you wish. Your trust office or legal advisor can give you more information, but in general there are three major types of bequests:

  • Specific Bequests are a specific amount of money or item of property such as houses or land, shares, cars, furniture or personal items.
  • General Bequests are generally a gifted sum of money or a percentage of your estate.
  • Residual Bequests are a gift of the residue of the estate after your family and other beneficiaries have been provided for.

A bequest can also be a gift of your own devising that fits within your plans.

We encourage our benefactors to please ‘look after’ their own family first and only then make a provision to support the work of Ronald McDonald House Auckland in their will.

Should you choose to leave us a gift in your will we respectfully suggest that you consult with a trust office or legal advisor who will ensure your wishes are clearly and legally stated. Whether you are constructing a new will or making an addition (codicil) to an existing will, the process of making a will is very simple.

Please note: our charitable trust’s legal name for this purpose is the RMH Auckland Trust.

Your bequest is completely confidential unless you wish to make your gift known. Please let us know if you do make a bequest to Ronald McDonald House Auckland so that we may personally thank you and keep you informed about our mission.
