Our 500 club
Become a 500 Club foundation supporter and help us make a real difference to New Zealand families just like yours, when their children are seriously ill.
Annual membership is just $240. If each year we fully subscribe our 500 members, this collective financial support will provide us with the security of knowing that our work can continue long into the future by helping to meet a large percentage of our current year’s overheads:
- 1,000 room nights (last year we supplied 9,366) for families like General Lee’s (pictured). Born in July 2006, General Lee spent much of her short life in Starship while her family stayed at the House. Having undergone heart surgery at only a matter of weeks old, General Lee’s health became very fragile and sadly she passed away in April 2008 shortly after this picture was taken at a happy shared family dinner.
- 9 months of utility bills (water, power, steam) — an essential yet unglamorous overhead that we find difficult to fund through grants and the like.
- 30% of our salary costs needed to run our 24 hour a day, 365 days a year operation across our two facilities.

The RMH Auckland Trust funds and governs Ronald McDonald House Auckland (48 rooms), the Ronald McDonald House Family Room (13 short stay critical care rooms) in Starship Hospital and RMHA St Martins (16 offsite apartments). It is a registered community charitable trust comprised of the following partners: Auckland District Health Board, Child Cancer Foundation, Heart Children, The Rotary Club of Downtown Auckland, Ronald McDonald House Charities and 2 community representatives. The House, Family Room and St Martins provide a ‘home away from home’ for over 3,000 families of children with life-threatening illnesses each year. The Trust through its staff and partnerships actively fundraises throughout New Zealand to achieve the $3,000,000 p.a. it needs to run the facilities and support its families.
