The Walters family, Waikato
Dear Beth,
We take this opportunity to sincerely express both our gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding assistance you and your staff gave our family over the last 6 months or so whilst our granddaughter was hospitalised at Starship with a terminal illness.
It is difficult to articulate just how grateful and indebted we all are to you and your staff in providing us with ‘home-like’ facilities and the genuine warmth, compassion and understanding that your team provided to us at what was a most difficult time. The hard work and positive attitude of all Ronald McDonald House kept us all going. We fully understand that the provision of all the support services and voluntary staff assistance relies on the generosity and compassion of many organisations and the unselfish giving of many volunteers. The ability to utilise the excellent services within Ronald McDonald House i.e. kitchens, lounges, 5-star accommodation, parking, transportation and weekly meals (by voluntary groups) ensured that families are able to relax and refocus in times of need.
Your organisation assisted and relieved a most trying time for us all and we are extremely appreciative for the empathy and support which made us all feel extremely welcome as if we were an extended member of the Ronald McDonald House family. Without the services provided by your facility there are many families throughout the country that would face undue hardship and personal difficulties — especially for those not domiciled within the Auckland region.
Losing a loved one is tragic and there are never sufficient ways to express that loss, nevertheless, without the support, personal assistance and closeness exhibited by all the staff and facilities at Ronald McDonald House our family would have endured a far greater heart ache. Ronald McDonald House is home away from home, a place of serenity and love and a beautiful place to help deal with the pain that is experienced by many families such as ours.
Once again please pass on our sincere appreciation and gratitude to all those who ensured that we were able to spend the last precious months with our treasured granddaughter in a most convivial and welcoming atmosphere. God bless you all.
Yours sincerely,
Doug and Rua Walters
