Grafton Mews — more than just a building

Glass entry to building

On 5 May 2011, Prime Minister John Key officially opened Ronald McDonald House Grafton Mews. Situated just a short walk down the hill from Auckland City Hospital, the first wing of the Grafton Mews House opened in March 2011. Since opening, we’ve seen some incredible families through the doors and if the Grafton Mews House wasn’t available, these families would have to stay in local hotels, disconnected from our care and support and the support of other families.

Our Houses offer families a caring, supportive environment and the opportunity to have as normal daily routine as possible as well as a place to stay together, for as long as their child requires medical treatment. By providing a ‘home away from home’, Ronald McDonald House Auckland helps families from all over New Zealand find the strength they need to face each day.

Although the first wing of the Grafton Mews House has opened there is more work to be done. So far Ronald McDonald Auckland Trust has a total of 79 rooms but we need 99. Once developed, the second wing of the Grafton Mews facility will mean an additional 20 rooms for families in need. And although work has begun, it cannot be completed without your help.
