Grafton Mews — why we need to expand

The Haggie family“Ronald McDonald House has become like a second home for us.” The Haggie family

More and more families are turning to Ronald McDonald House Auckland for shelter and support.

The move to centralise national paediatric speciality services in Auckland, together with improvements in clinical treatment procedure, has meant that more children are treated in Auckland children’s hospital. In recognition of the professionally run facilities and programmes RMHA clinicians are increasingly discharging children from Starship hospital into our care. As demand for hospital beds and specialise services escalate, Starship Hospital is looking to Ronald McDonald House to be part of the solution.

More and more families are turning to Ronald McDonald House Auckland for shelter and support. In the last three years there have been too many times when our house has been too full to accommodate any more families. We will never turn a referred family away. In 2010 alone, we had no option but to place over 100 families at local hotels which cannot provide the level of professional care our families need. Our families deserve better.

There is one solution — we need more space and we need it now!
