About us
Ronald McDonald House Auckland is a ‘home away from home’ for families from all over NZ whose desperately ill children require potentially lifesaving treatment. We provide shelter and support for these families who must travel to Auckland because the specialist treatment their child urgently requires isn’t necessarily available to them nearby.
Families with children in intensive care are also provided with emergency accommodation in our Ronald McDonald House Family Room located inside Starship, when even being five minutes away from their child is too far.
The House and Family Room are run by the RMH Auckland Trust which is a 100% community charitable trust. It is a registered charitable trust and qualifies for tax deductible status with the IRD. The trust board comprises of two representatives from the wider New Zealand community, and two from each of the following five partners:
- Auckland District Health Board
- The Child Cancer Foundation
- Heart Children New Zealand Inc
- Ronald McDonald House Charities (the philanthropic arm of McDonald’s in NZ)
- Rotary Club of Downtown Auckland
Our Trust is heavily reliant on funding support from all our key partners, grant bodies and donations and bequests from the wider New Zealand community to help run its two facilities and support our families.
Please see Ronald McDonald House Auckland or the Ronald McDonald House Family Room for more information.
